Halloween Prosthetics
Special Effects to Raise the Dead!
Halloween prosthetics will turn any mediocre costume into a morbid massacre of gore! You may choose traditional fancy dress outfits for your Halloween party, but with a few Halloween prosthetics under your belt, it’s likely mayhem will ensue!
In a nutshell, Halloween prosthetics are ready-made pieces of latex (or foam based latex) moulded into particular shapes. These latex pieces can represent wounds, scars, combinations of both or even full face atrocities!
They are very easy to use! Some Halloween prosthetics are self-adhesive and simply just stick on. Others will require the application of a special latex adhesive called ‘spirit gum’ which is often included with your prosthetic purchase or can be bought separately. Halloween prosthetics are available as either pre-coloured or plain. Plain, skin coloured pieces are perfect for creating your own individualised horror look, whilst coloured or pre-painted pieces are great for an instant special effect!
There are so many creative Halloween prosthetics to choose from, to give your fancy dress costumes all the gore they need. Prosthetics can be used on any part of your body where there is skin to stick to! Be very careful of hair though, we don’t want anyone losing eyebrows!
Halloween prosthetics can be found to enhance the look of specific characters with features you would find typical of that look. For example a witch! Oversized, crooked witch noses, complete with warts (or grab some warts separately), pointy large chins and even hairy black moles, are all Halloween prosthetics you can use to give a witchy look that added oomph!
Victims of blood thirsty, ravishing vampires can also benefit from realistic looking Halloween prosthetics. There are lots of fake vampire bite pieces you can stick on your neck, larger throat gashes and even complete kits with everything you need to turn ho-hum into horror!
Mutant zombie faces, including full face foam latex appliances, latex body parts such as protruding ribs and bones, zombie corpse heads and even severed or scalped heads are fantastic Halloween prosthetics for any undead zombie costume. You can even advance the look of your devil or demon outfits with tell-tale horns sticking out of your forehead for that evil, menacing glare!
With Halloween prosthetics, you can pretty much turn any old fancy dress outfit into the exact look you want! The special effects don’t just stop at witches, vampires and zombies – in fact there is a fantastic variety of latex appliances you can use for just about anything! Other Halloween prosthetics include werewolf faces, scars, open wounds and stitches, wounds with safety pins, slashed wrists, bullet holes and gunshot wounds, third eyes, ripped apart zippers for your face, fake screws for your head, burn wounds, glass and metal wounds,, impaled objects, fake ears, the list goes on and on and on!
A great thing to have on hand, to give your Halloween prosthetics maximum effect, is additional liquid latex. Liquid latex is used for adding depth to fake wounds (making them look more realistic) and also to smooth out the edges of your latex piece so it blends in with your skin surface. Halloween prosthetics also often benefit from additional special effects make up including fake blood (either dripping or crusty and coagulated), plus creepy skin or a crackling, textured face paint for a not-so-smooth finish! All Halloween prosthetics can be further decorated with makeup to create special effects such as bruising or other discolouration.
So, give it a go! Kick your basic look to the curb on October 31st and amp it up instead with some totally awesome Halloween prosthetics – you won’t be disappointed… hopefully just disgusted!
