If you’re looking to wear Book Week costumes for teachers that are in sync with the theme for 2016, then anything Australian is a great way to go! Book Week costumes for teachers can also revolve around a great range of classic storybook or fairytale character themes. Teachers can create a wonderful Wonderland of learning in classrooms and dress up in women’s Alice in Wonderland costumes! Choose to be Alice herself in a long blue dress and blonde wig, or maybe go a little crazy as the Mad Hatter and host a Book Week tea party at lunch time. The Queen of Hearts is fine too, as long as yelling ‘Off with their heads!’ isn’t echoed across the school yard! These Alice in Wonderland Book Week costumes for teachers are perfect for women and men too!

Then there’s the gang from the Wizard of Oz! Make your students follow your very own yellow brick road on their Book Week parade, and lead the way dressed as Dorothy, Tin Man or Scarecrow.

Book Week costumes for teachers also come in Medieval or Renaissance themes. Suitable for males and females, you can dress up as Robin Hood with some Merry Men, Friar Tuck in a long brown robe, or the lovely Maid Marian.

The ever-so-popular Frozen characters also make fun Book Week costumes for teachers that your students will recognise and adore. Maybe a whole class rendition of ‘Let it Go’ can be on the curriculum for the day, with you dressed as the Snow Queen star of the show!

By-passing Disney Princesses is not an option when it comes to fairytale and storybook characters, so these lovely young ladies are definitely great Book Week costumes for teachers too! You can choose from Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle or Rapunzel – all with beautiful long gowns, quite suitable for the classroom although kicking the footy with the kids at recess may be a problem. You could also dress up as Snow White, but remember that any red apples left on your desk should be carefully scrutinised! (Maybe you could hand them over to Robin Hood for some target practice ) Fairy Godmothers are always likeable, especially if you wave your magic wand and declare ‘No Homework Tonight!’

Shrek and Fiona can be your modern-day take on fairytale themed Book Week costumes for teachers, or you could dress up as Where’s Wally and reign supreme during a class game of hide and seek in the school yard.

If you’re the school Principal, it’d be really cool to whip out a silly sense of humour and choose one of the more ‘evil’ or ‘naughty’ characters to dress up as! We’re thinking the Big Bad Wolf who huffs and puffs, or add some curlers to your hair for a Granny Wolf look! Maybe you could be the Wicked Witch of the West and cackle at your ‘pretties’ or the infamous Cruella De Vil with some toy puppies in tow!
