There are currently 12 official Disney Princesses, all of whom have had Coronation Ceremonies outside Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. Let’s have a look at exactly who they are so you can choose Disney Princess costumes to suit the personality of your little munchkins!

Snow White – She was the 1st and original Disney Princess. Her skin was as white as snow, her hair was as black as ebony and her lips were as red as a rose! She did have to combat the Evil Queen but 7 dwarfs and her prince charming were there to help.

Cinderella – The 2nd official Disney Princess. Cinderella is often considered the leader of all the princesses. She was hard-working and had to deal with her not-so-nice stepsisters but she did get to go to the ball thanks to her Fairy Godmother!

Aurora – The 3rd Disney Princess. Aurora is the main character from the animated Sleeping Beauty film. She is beautiful, shy and kind, but also sophisticated and a hopeless romantic!

Ariel – She was the 4th Disney Princess. Otherwise known as the Little Mermaid, Ariel is an under the sea princess who rules Kingdom Atlantica along with her father King Triton. She is the youngest of 7 sisters.

Belle – The 5th Disney Princess to be coronated. Belle came to glory in the animated film Beauty and the Beast. She loves books and seeks adventure! She also turns the beast into her very own Prince Charming!

Jasmine – The 6th Disney Princess. Princess Jasmine comes from the Aladdin movie. She is bold and fierce with a confident personality! Magic carpet rides are one of her favourite pastimes.

Pocahontas – The 7th Disney Princess. Pocahontas is a spiritual soul. She can communicate in many ethnic languages and seems to have magical powers with all things ‘nature’. She is also a very wise princess!

Mulan – The 8th Disney Princess. Featuring in her self-titled animated film ‘Mulan’, this princess is courageous! A young Chinese girl who is beautiful but clumsy and quite often outspoken!

Tiana – The 9th Disney Princess. This hardworking and ambitious young lady is from the animated film The Princess and the Frog. It’s a good thing too because breaking the spell that turned you into a frog is not easy!

Rapunzel – The lovely 10th Disney Princess. Rapunzel was officially coronated in 2011. She boasts beautiful, super long golden locks, but she has been stuck in a tower for 18 years… that’s not so much fun!

Merida – Lucky last 11th Disney Princess. Coronated in 2013, Merida is more of a modern day princess and the only one of the group who doesn’t have a love interest! From the movie Brave – Merida likes to take control of her destiny. She is a great archer, sword fighter and horse rider, with gorgeous curly red hair!

There we have it! The official 11 Disney Princesses! Of course there are 2 more extremely popular characters who have yet to make the list. We’re talking about Princess Elsa and Princess Anna. Just because they haven’t had their official coronations in Disney World, doesn’t mean they are any less royal! We don’t mind if you err from the list a bit and dress up in Frozen Disney Princess costumes too!

Once you have your favourite Disney Princess costumes picked out, don’t forget to add to your adventures and celebrations with a range of fabulous decorations, food and activities centred around your theme! Disney Princess themes are a fabulous way for little girls to celebrate their birthdays or other special occasions. See if you can get all your friends to each dress up in different Disney Princess costumes and have a magical time in your very own make-believe world!
